Is It Bad to Exfoliate Every Day? A New Skin Soothing Exfoliator Is Redefining Daily Skincare Regimes

Dermalogica is changing the narrative on regular exfoliation so that you don’t have to compromise on perfectly polished skin

Is it bad to exfoliate every day? Bazaar Arabia breaks down why Dermalogica’s new Daily Milkfoliant is proof that you can safely exfoliate every day without compromising the health of your skin

Exfoliation is one of the essential yet most commonly misunderstood steps of a healthy skincare routine. Every day we accumulate build-up on our face consisting of dead skin cells, excess oil, sebum, and environmental pollutants, which results in acne, dullness, dark spots, and uneven texture.  Not only does exfoliation dislodge and eliminate this debris, the act of exfoliating also stimulates blood circulation, and boosts the naturally occurring process of skin cell turnover that unfortunately slows down as we age. Essentially, exfoliants buff the skin and even prep it to absorb the lineup of pricey moisturisers and serums in which we’ve invested our hard-earned money.

Given the many benefits of exfoliation, particularly its rejuvenating effects on the skin, it is somewhat confusing that it is not always recommended as part of a daily skincare regimen. The reason is that exfoliating more than once or twice a week can apparently cause more harm than good. The abrasive ingredients found in most exfoliants can strip the skin’s natural oils, leading to breakouts, irritation, and dryness. In the end, not exactly rejuvenating.

So… Is it bad to exfoliate every day?

Enter the Daily Milkfoliant, Dermalogica’s latest exfoliant powder – a dual exfoliating and skin-soothing product.

Similar to the skincare brand’s award-winning Daily Microfoliant, the Milkfoliant consists of both physical and chemical exfoliants that activate when mixed with a splash of water. Gentle enough for everyday use and suitable for all skin types, the formula has been clinically proven to leave the skin vibrant and smooth. In fact, 90% of user reported having visibly smoother skin after just one single use.

The milky powder is the perfect alchemy of exfoliating enzymes and skin-calming agents. Grainy particles and fruit-based exfoliants rich in AHAs and BHAs work to gently scrub away debris, while oat bran extract, coconut milk, and hyaluronic acid work together to calm the skin and reinforce its moisture barrier.

In keeping with Dermalogica’s sustainability pledge, the product is proudly vegan and is packaged in a bottle made from 50% recycled plastic.

The Daily Milkfoliant comes in two sizes and will be available for purchase from authorised Dermalogica spas, salons, skin centres and dermalogica.ae as of September 19, 2022.
