Logina Salah On Accepting The Ageing Process: “Beauty Has No Expiration Date”

True beauty reveals itself not in spite of time, but because of it. Logina Salah is part of a chic collective of women we celebrate in our May 2025 issue, each sharing the rituals that sustain them, the challenges that have shaped them, and what products and practices make them feel their most beautiful

With her striking vitiligo and unapologetic confidence, Logina Salah has become a symbol of self-acceptance in the Arab world and beyond. Whether advocating for children with UNICEF, delivering viral TEDx talks on authenticity, or preparing to launch her own passion project, the 35 year old (and Egypt’s Miss Universe 2024) is rewriting the rules of what a beauty queen can be. Her message? True power comes from embracing what makes you different.

What’s been the most challenging aspect of ageing?

The most unexpected part has been the clarity it brings. I used to think confidence came from how I looked or how others saw me. Now, I know it comes from knowing who I am and standing firm in that. The hardest part? Letting go of societal timelines – the pressure on women to peak or stop dreaming by a certain age. Growth has no expiration date. Neither does beauty.

How would you describe your evolution over time?

I’ve gone from seeking acceptance to owning my authenticity. Early on, I chased fitting to an industry with narrow beauty standards, but I learned that real power comes from embracing what makes you different. Now, I see my uniqueness as part of my story. My journey taught me vulnerability is strength, and confidence begins when you stop trying to be someone else. I lead with purpose, not perfection – and that changed everything.

What truly defines beauty?

Authenticity. It’s the courage to be fully and unapologetically yourself, flaws and all. It’s in the stories we carry, and the kindness and strength we show when no one’s watching. Beauty isn’t about symmetry or perfection; it’s about the soul. In myself, I embrace my vitiligo and wear it as a crown. In others, it’s when they show up real, raw, and human. Beauty truly resides in truth.

What gives you the confidence to share your story on social media?

Knowing that my story isn’t just mine, it’s a mirror for someone else who needs to see themselves in it. Every time I share a part of my journey, I think of the girl who’s hiding her skin, her voice, or her dreams because she feels she’s not enough. If my truth helps her feel seen or strong, then it’s worth it. I don’t post for perfection, I post for connection. That gives me the confidence I need.

What three beauty products can you not live without?

Fenty Skin lip balm (I don’t like having dry lips), Kosas blusher, because it makes me feel cute, and The Ordinary retinol – it completely changed my skin.

What’s your signature scent?

I love oud and musk, especially Guerlain and Gissah’s. They speak to how proud of being Arab I am.

Beauty treatments you swear by?

I’m very picky when it comes to treatments and I believe less is more, but I really love and appreciate Botox.

Whose style – real or fictional – has inspired you most?

Selena Quintanilla is my fashion and beauty icon.

What achievement or moment in your life are you proudest of?

Many moments have shaped me, but I’m proudest of becoming a mother. My daughter gave my life deeper purpose and made me strive to be someone she can admire. Being named among the World Women Foundation’s most influential women in 2020 proved that impact matters more than appearance. Reaching Miss Universe’s semi-finals showed every ‘different’ girl she belongs on that stage. And working with UNICEF and the UN has been my greatest privilege – using my voice to help vulnerable children is the legacy I want to leave.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

To embrace her uniqueness and trust her journey. There will be moments of doubt, but those challenges are opportunities for growth. I’d remind her that self-acceptance and staying true to her values are keys to happiness and success, and I’d encourage her to never fear failure – every setback is a lesson that brings her closer to her goals.

What’s always in your handbag, no matter what?

A power bank (because if my phone died, I’d never be able to get back home) and lip gloss.

What’s your most treasured possession?

A necklace given to me by my grandma.

How would you describe yourself?

Persistent and funny.

Describe your perfect day off.

A hot shower, doing my skincare, cooking octopus and eating with my daughter while watching a movie.

Looking back, which chapter of your life feels the most beautiful to you?

Every chapter holds its own beauty, but if I had to choose just one, it’s the present. I’m building something that comes straight from my heart: my own brand, rooted in a story I deeply believe in. For the first time, I feel like every step I’ve taken has led me here. I’m full of purpose, optimism, and fire, and I can’t wait to watch it come to life.
