LUX: A Century of Unapologetic Beauty and Feminine Strength

From Hollywood icons to everyday heroines, LUX has been the go-to brand for women across the world…

For more than 100 years, LUX has been synonymous with beauty and glamour. Since its debut in 1923, this iconic brand has not only transformed the beauty industry but has also become a symbol of feminism. Today, LUX stands tall as the No.1 or No.2 skin cleansing brand in almost all of Unilever’s emerging markets, a status earned through a century of dedication.

From the very beginning, LUX was designed to offer more than just a regular bar of soap. Lever Brothers, the precursor to Unilever, envisioned a richly fragranced yet affordable soap that offered a touch of luxury to everyday life. Priced at a mere 10 cents, its first soap bar was considered revolutionary, promising a luxurious lather and exquisite scents akin to the finest French soaps.

It wasn’t long before Hollywood took notice. In a bold marketing move, LUX’s advertising agency sent soap to 425 actresses in 1928, and 414 of them endorsed it. This clever strategy secured LUX’s place in limelight, claiming the most iconic women in show business, from Marilyn Monroe to Audrey Hepburn. In fact, more recently, stars such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have continued this tradition, lending their grace and charm to the brand.

However, LUX’s appeal goes beyond its star-studded endorsements. At its core, LUX believes in the power of beauty as a source of strength and confidence. In a world where women face constant scrutiny and judgement, the brand actively supports the idea that femininity is not a weakness, but the greatest strength of them all.

LUX’s commitment to this cause is reflected in its diverse range of products crafted by top fragrance houses and designed to enhance self-care rituals. Whether it’s the enchanting notes of Magical Orchid, the delicate essence of Soft Rose, or the velvety appeal of Velvet Jasmine, each LUX product transforms the mundane act of bathing into an ultra-luxurious experience.

In a star-studded event marking this milestone, the legacy of LUX was celebrated with celebrities such as Loujain Adada (LJ), Farhana Bodi, Mona Kattan and Cynthia Samuel Bakri.

Yasmine Sabri, the esteemed brand ambassador for LUX, eloquently captures the essence of the brand, as she states that “Being with LUX since 2019 has been an honour, as it symbolises women empowering each other, standing together, and inspiring limitless potential.”

LUX is more than a soap it’s a movement and a statement for femininity.
