When it comes to learning the ins and outs of make-up who better to ask than Tom Pecheux, who has been in the industry for three decades. The acclaimed fashion make-up artist, formerly creative director for Estée Lauder and Shiseido, is currently the Global Beauty Director for YSL Beauty. BAZAAR sits down with him as he shares his secrets to a chic yet sophisticated look.
Harper's BAZAAR Arabia: How would you describe the make-up look of the Saint Laurent Winter 20 Show? Where did your inspiration come from?
The inspiration comes directly from Anthony Vaccarello, and from the YSL Beauté make-up products that I am creating.
HBA: Can you tell us the different steps to achieve this look?
TP: To achieve this look you need first a really good skincare to prep the skin.
From there, a little bit of foundation, to have a very nice coverage. We just want the result to be a very flawless skin, with a matte finish. We add a little bit of Touche Éclat Shimmer Stick on the top of the cheeks. A nice eyebrow, groomed but not fake. And matte lips that we are creating with The Slim No 21.

HBA: What are the must-have products for this make-up look?
TP: The must-have products are All Hours Foundation and All Hours Concealer, All Hours Setting Powder, Touche Éclat Shimmer Stick and The Slim No 21.
Models that are doing the show have asked which colour it was because they loved it. And it’s pretty rare to find a lipstick that every women will fall in love with. Also, the effect of The Slim No 21 is powerful, bold, strong, with a very matte finish but not a dry effect on the lips.
HBA: What about The Slim application?
TP: The square bullet of The Slim is actually a plus when it comes to application because it gives a perfect definition, a perfect finish, a perfect line in one stroke.

HBA: What about the eye look?
TP: It’s so natural that it’s very bold. The lips are so intense and powerful that you don’t need any make-up on the eyes. I think it’s great to have no eyes when the lips are so bold!
HBA: Why is this make-up look so YSL?
