This Dubai-Based PR Agency is Offering its Staff Menstrual and Menopause Leave

Times are changing for women in the workforce and TishTash Communications is at the forefront…

After Spain announced all women will receive three days of menstrual leave earlier this year, female workers around the world waited to see if any other nations would follow suit. Whilst Japan, Indonesia and South Korea all offer women some kind of paid menstrual leave, this unfortunately isn’t the international norm.

On February 28 award-winning communications agency, TishTash, announced as part of the agency’s commitment to understanding and supporting the healthcare needs of women within the workplace, from March 1, 2023 all of their team members will receive paid leave for fertility and menopause treatments, in addition to a variety of other women’s health needs.

The latest TishTash policy includes paid leave for employees to attend medical appointments whilst undergoing fertility treatment, including treatments inside and outside of the country (including egg freezing). Notably, the time taken off is flexible and unrestricted, as TishTash states they cannot assume to know what people will need and have taken this into account.

According to TishTash Communications, the latest research shows that menopause symptoms are forcing women out of the workforce, with nearly one million women had left their professions due to unmanageable symptoms. The agency has noted, more than 10 of its team is aged between 35-45 and due to TishTash being a completely female workforce, the agency strives to create a culture that promotes open and safe conversations about both menopause and menstruation.

The CEO of TishTash, Natasha Hatherall, says she has gone through the process of fertility treatment herself and having been in the fortunate position to take the time she required as the business owner, she wanted to extend this to her team and create a genuinely supportive environment for her employees.
