Hermès Is Launching An Eco-Friendly Make-Up And Skincare Collection
Here’s everything we know so far
Hermès has announced its expansion into two new luxury categories: make-up and skincare, according to Business of Fashion (BoF).
The publication confirms that the collection will be manufactured in France and Italy and boasts a sustainability element as well with the use of plastic-free packaging.
“It’s quite exciting: It’s a new activity, with all the risks that involves, so we will deploy it progressively, initially in our own stores mainly, in a limited distribution so that we can learn,” Hermès chief executive Axel Dumas tells BoF. “Obviously, we hope to have the biggest scope possible. We are trying to do it humbly and cautiously, because it’s a big market that’s already full of strong players, and therefore we have to find our place in it.”
There are no further details on what products to expect yet, but we imagine Hermès will follow the example of other prestige brands like Tom Ford, Armani and Chanel and offer a full range of beauty products, from cleansers to creams and eyeshadows to lipsticks.
This week, the French fashion house also announced the launch of Un Jardin sur la Lagune, the latest addition to their fragrance portfolio and perfumer Christine Nagel’s first addition to the garden-fragrances collection.
