Nothing can can cause frustration like newly washed and blow-dried hair getting ruined because of rain or humidity. However, many brands have come out with products that are able to waterproof hair, which are supposed to leave you looking silky fresh for days.
Promising high hopes such as these, it’s no doubt that the products have gone viral on social media platforms, especially TikTok. With many influencers running to the stores to try them on camera, and noticing outstanding results.

With social media trends coming and going, Bazaar Arabia asked Senior Artistic Director at Pastels Salon, Karl Warner, his thoughts on hair waterproofing and whether this trend is here to stay…
Waterproofing Your Hair: Is It Actually Possible?
According to Karl, the purpose of the product is to combat humidity, and help with anti-frizzing and curling on different hair types and styles, and stated that the product is super simple to use. “Simply just spray it on the hair, blow dry it in, and it should last up to four days.”
Moreover, Karl went on to tell us about the main benefit of the product, which is “to be able to maintain the style until the next wash” without any hassle and keep your hair looking lustrous. With many products on the market containing damaging ingredients, hair waterproofing products are safe to use for any and all hair types.
By preventing the hair from interacting with water in the atmosphere, frizz is kept at bay as long as the product is used in conjunction with heat. This is required because the “heat is what activates ingredient in the product to make it work,” explained our expert.
With so many effective products on the market it’s hard to pick a favourite, but Karl says that the Colour Wow Dreamcoat is the most effective, and believes that this product is “perfect for the region.”
