Vivienne Westwood Has Launched A Show-Stopping Collection Of Sustainable Wedding Gowns
This could be the answer to your environmentally conscious dreams
With consumer demand for sustainable practices at an all-time high, it’s no wonder designers are beginning to align themselves with the new age of consciousness. Thanks to legendary fashion queen, Vivienne Westwood, now, your wedding gown needn’t leave an unwanted mark on our precious planet.
Long Cocotte dress crafted from Forest Positive Viscose
Impeccably created with an environmental conscience and reduced carbon footprint focussing on sustainable, responsibily sourced fabrics, each piece is also thoughtfully designed with a transformative nature, not only enabling the gown to convert into different styles throughout a bride’s wedding day, but also afterwards, with the intention of being able to be reimagined through in-house colour or silhouette alterations – to eliminate one-time wear.

Select styles in the collection are created in innovative, organically produced, eco-friendly and cruelty-free Peace Silk, which allows the silk butterfly to live beyond the cocoon – unlike many traditional silk production methods. Peace Silk is also produced without the use of harmful chemicals in the growing and production of the fabric and uses significantly less water in its creation.
Leia dress crafted from Recycled Polyester
Recycled polyester is also featured throughout the show-stopping range – skillfully created from 100 per cent discarded bottles that are cleverly spun into a jacquard yarn. Finally, the label boasts Forest Positive Viscose – a beautiful crepe-satin that is responsibly sourced and certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), to ensure sustainable management of forests and the welfare of workers, offering brides a vegan alternative to silk.

Palpably marked with Westwood’s artistic approach to design, much like the British designer herself, this is one collection you can’t help but fall for – whether you’re about to get married or not.
