Riyad Mahrez and Taylor Ward, the renowned Manchester City football star aged 32, and the 24-year-old model, have exchanged marital vows for the second time in a legal ceremony held in London this Monday. The elegant affair took place at The Londoner Hotel, where they were joined by their dearest friends and family.
While most marry their chosen person once, the couple’s journey to marital bliss included a prior Muslim ceremony in January 2022, and sources have said they have yet another celebration later this year.
According to an insider, “Taylor and Riyad held their ceremony with their loved ones in attendance. This event marked the legal aspect of their union, preceding their official wedding next year. The festivities at The Londoner were nothing short of lavish, followed by an intimate dinner with their family and friends.”
Taylor’s sister, Darby, shared a glimpse into the second wedding through Instagram Stories, sharing a picture of her sister in bridal white pajamas, accompanied by a celebratory cake. Darby captioned the post with heartwarming words; “Today, you’re going to be a wifey, Taylor! @taylorward, it’s going to be an emotional day.”
This isn’t the first celebration of marriage for the couple. Riyad, originally from Algeria, and Taylor are now officially recognized under Islamic law, having followed the traditions of his faith as they previously married in a Muslim ceremony, also known as the nikah or katb ketab, where they signed a contract ensuring their legal status under Islamic law.
Their engagement, which garnered significant attention, was announced via Instagram in July 2021.
The romantic proposal took place during a luxurious summer getaway to Mykonos, where they were joined by their families and close friends — and no one could forget about the dazzling ring. Taylor radiated in bridal white, donning a sheer jumpsuit detailed with lace.
Riyad, obviously no stranger to extravagance, left no stone unturned in selecting the perfect engagement ring for Taylor, who is the daughter of Real Housewives Of Cheshire star Dawn Ward, opting for a custom-made masterpiece valued at £400,000.
In July, Riyad bid farewell to Manchester City, embarking on a new chapter with Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli in a staggering £30 million deal.
The couple welcomed a baby girl in July 2022.
The football player has two daughters he shares with ex-wife, Rita Johal.
