Remembering Dalal Abdel Aziz: Wife of Samir Ghanem, Mother and Actress Passed Away This Weekend
In honour of the Egyptian actress’ legacy and in celebration of her life, Bazaar looks back at some of her greatest accomplishments here
An accomplished actress in her own right Dalal Abdel Aziz, wife of iconic Egyptian comedian Samir Ghanem and mother to actresses, Donia and Amy Samir Ghanem, has passed away at the age of 61.
She passed away on Saturday from, what appears to be, COVID-19 related complications; the actress had been battling the virus for a number of weeks now.
The actress had a long and successful acting career, having working in the entertainment industry for over 30 years.
Some of her most exceptional and memorable performances include classics such as the comedy play Ahlan Ya Doctor, starring alongside Samir Ghanem and Hob Fel Takhshibah (Love in Prison) to some of her recent hit films including Asef Ala El Ezag (Apologies For Disturbing) and the 2020 Ramadan comedy series Valentino.
The actress was loved and respected by many within the entertainment industry, here Bazaar shares a few celebrities who took to social media to pay their tributes and share their respects to the family.

“It is so hard to believe that you are no longer with us, I am truly heartbroken. You were one of the kindest and purest souls that I have ever met. May God have mercy on her soul and on her beloved Samir Ghanem. My sincere condolences to my beloved sisters Donia and Amy and to all the family, may God give you patience and solace during these difficult times,” wrote Dorra in the caption of her image.
Bushra
“May God have mercy on you, dear, the one who has never failed to put a smile on my face, the friendly, the kind, the caring and companionate mother of Donia and Amy. You will always be in our hearts and minds, may God bring us together with you someday,” wrote Bushra in memory of the beloved actress.
Youssra
“The news of your death hurts me so much, my love and the beloved of all. Your presence in our lives was a blessing. You were the kindest sister, mother and wife, the most caring friend and the purest heart and soul. May God give us patience and give your daughters Donia and Amy strength,” wrote Youssra in the caption of her post.
Mona Zaki
“The death of the artist Dalal Abdel Aziz is painful and sad news. We can only be patient and pray for her, her family and all of us… My sincere condolences to Donia and Amy. May God bring you together with your love Samir Ghanem in heaven. They lived together and left together,” wrote Mona in remembrance of Dalal and Samir.
Mai Selim
Mai Selim gave her condolences and prayers to the artist Dalal Abdel Aziz and to the family in the caption of her post. “We belong to God and to Him we shall return,” she wrote as part of her prayer for Dalal.

“Sad and very painful news, the great artist, mother, wife and icon.. We all lost her, and no matter what we say, we will not be able to imagine the difficulty of the situation for her daughters and her family… I don’t know, Donia and Amy, what to say to comfort you. May God give you patience and strength and may he have mercy on mother Dalal Abdel Aziz and father Samir Ghanem,” wrote Saba in the caption of her post.
