In order to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus and help in tracing individuals who may have been exposed to the disease, the UAE is encouraging everyone to download a new app.
According to Arabian Business the Ministry of Health and Prevention has introduced Alhosn UAE, the nation’s official COVID-19 testing and contact tracing app, which is free to download and will help the UAE government in tracing the spread of the virus – something which has been key in halting the spread of other infectious diseases throughout the globe.
The app’s success is reliant on the number of individuals who download it, so members of the public are being encouraged to download the app onto their phones even if they haven’t been tested for the virus.
“The success of this app hinges on the level of usage by our people and how many are using it, which means that its objective won’t be achieved unless 50-70 percent of the UAE population would download and use it in an effective way," Dr Farida Al Hosani, official spokesperson for the UAE health sector said. "Alhosn is our fast-track ticket to curb the spread and our protective shield against any future pandemics."
If an individual test positive for the disease they will be requested to download secure coding signals to his or her phone in order to trace and notify other individuals who they have interacted with, within the past 21 days.
Alhosn UAE app can be download on both Android and iOS devices for free.
