Who Can Be Vaccinated Against Covid In Dubai?
The Dubai Health Authority has revealed a list of six different categories of individuals who won’t be able to receive the vaccine
Since the announcement of Dubai’s extensive vaccination campaign using the Pfizer-BioNTech’s vaccine, there have been many questions regarding who is actually eligible to be vaccinated.
Currently, the emirate has announced it is in Phase One of the inoculation programme, with only a select few categories of individuals eligible to be vaccinated.
According to Dubai Health Authority hotline (800 342) senior citizens and Dubai residents over the age of 60 (with a valid Dubai visa); people of determination; individuals with chronic diseases; frontline healthcare workers and vital sector workers 18 years and above are all currently eligible for those vaccine.
Today, DHA revealed six different categories of individuals who are not eligible for the vaccine.
This includes people with immunodeficiency, individuals with allergies, children under the age of 18 and nursing mothers. Women who are pregnant or are trying to conceive also aren’t eligible to receive the vaccine in Dubai.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is the second inoculation approved by the UAE. It is administered in two doses, 21 days apart, and has a 95 percent efficacy in protecting those who receive it.
In December 2020, the China-developed Sinopharm was made available to citizens and residents both within Abu Dhabi and Dubai, after an extensive testing programme took place throughout the summer months. It has an 86 percent efficacy.
