24 Hours with… Saudi Fashion Designer Nora Alshaikh

From her morning routine to keeping fit and healthy, she shares her entire daily routine with Bazaar here…

10:00AM I usually wake up at 10:00. After I brush my teeth and drink Some water, one of the things that i’ve added to my morning routine is celery juice. I’ve been drinking about 16oz of it every morning for a year now and I’ve really noticed the benefits to my mood and energy. My skin is better and I’m also more focused. I don’t eat or drink anything for half an hour after that, so I take this time to check my emails and social media accounts.

10:30AM Breakfast is very important for me and I usually eat something light, like avocado or peanut butter – I don’t function as well when i’ve eaten a heavy meal in the morning.

11:00AM I start my morning beauty routine, I use cream cleanser face wash from Mad Hippie. It’s vegan, cruelty-free and really suits my skin. I also use Replenishing Hydrator from Ling. I moved from Riyadh to Jeddah where I get more sun exposure and I’ve noticed many changes in my skin since then, so I had to adapt with them. The more I give my skin, the more it gives me back, which is why I like to use a lot of natural products. I don’t get to the office until around…

12:00PM When I start reading trend reports and meeting with my clients who like to visit the showroom in Al Tahlia Street. It’s a small and intimate space that reflects the brand’s mood. I also design and source inspiration during this time.

3:00PM If it’s the weekend, this is the best time to lay in the sun. I really enjoy tanning in Jeddah. Drinking a carrot-orange juice is a must for me while I tan, especially as it’s important to hydrate your body during this time. I use products from Bayt Al Saboun Al Loubnani – it’s a really amazing Lebanese beauty brand and my sister noticed my beautiful skin colour after I switched to it. This is also my favourite time to read. I love self-improvement books the most. I’ll usually work out at about…

6:00PM I love to do Iyengar Yoga as it helps with my posture. I’m also really into crossfit and pilates. Reformer is easily one of my favourite workouts ever. I’m used to skipping lunch and eating something light on-the-go before my workout, like a banana. Plus, coffee gives me the energy I need throughout the day, so I’m always happy when dinner time comes at around.

8:30PM I like to have a homemade meal for dinner as it’s my main meal for the whole day, so it’s usually pretty heavy.

9:30PM If I have an event to attend or if I’m meeting one of my friends, I create content for my Snapchat followers or enjoy a late-night movie.

12:30AM I’m usually fast asleep!
