Art Jameel Photography Award Opens Admissions

The competition offers aspiring photographers the opportunity to submit their finest photographs

The acclaimed arts and culture initiative, Art Jameel has opened its annual submissions to all photographers across the GCC – from amateurs to professionals above the age of 18 to submit their photographic work. The theme for this year’s competition is Reinventing Imagery which aims to explore methods of production and participation in disciplines across culture, urbanism, social experimental photography and alternate forms of image processing. Art Jameel’s Manager, Dalya Mousa expresses the fundamental focus of the 2016 theme,

“The goal is to encourage artists to break away from the familiar and commercial ways of looking and using images through art”

The initiative encourages participants to utilise various mediums from photography, video, illustration, sculptures and installations to convey images in creative contexts. The cash prizes on offer will amount to over Dhs110,000 while the exhibition is set to showcase the top 30 entry submission of the competition.
