Preview The Met’s “Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology”
The exhibit is set to open on May 5th
The stakes are high for curator Andrew Bolton of the MET Costume Institute after the insurmountable success of last year’s China: Through The Looking Glass, which broke museum records. But it looks like the 2016 exhibit is already proving to be even bigger and better, with a fashion-forward theme that will depict a 150-costume narrative of the technical creative process, from the early 20th century to date. Manus x Machina will track the development from manmade couture and avant-garde collections into machine made ones, and explore how this dichotomy has riffed fashion’s history.
