
OBLONG Contemporary Gallery Set To Launch In Dubai’s Bluewaters Island Next Month
The gallery will be the first art space to be located in Dubai’s island destination
OBLONG Contemporary Gallery, a brand new space for modern and contemporary international art is set to open in Dubai’s Bluewaters Island on 14 October. Founded by Italian trio Mara Firetti, Emanuela Venturini and Paola Marucci, the gallery will be a platform for culture, modern and contemporary international art with a special focus on sculpture work.
On show for two months, the inaugural exhibition entitled The Nascence will reveal 25 sculpture works by world-renowned artists such as Polish artist Igor Mitoraj, Italy-born Stefano Bombardieri, Costa Rican sculptor Jimenez Deredia and American artist Robert Indiana.

“OBLONG Contemporary Gallery will showcase some of the most prolific and prominent artists’ works from Pietrasanta, the Tuscan town famous for its marble and bronze workshops and where artists have gathered across centuries since the time of Michaelangelo,” says Firetti. “We aim to be a cultural platform of exchange.”
In addition to showcasing famed works from Pietrasanta, the gallery will host a range of workshops, educational initiatives and an art exchange program between Dubai and Pietrasanta.
Other artists represented by the new gallery include Giuseppe Veneziano, Fabrizio Plessi, Mario Arlati, Gustavo Velez and Jimenez Deredia, to name a few.
