Art With Bazaar | Hind Mezaina Discusses Her First Solo Exhibition At Tashkeel

Tashkeel’s Summer Season has kicked off with ‘Wonder Land’, a solo exhibition that uses the pandemic as a lens to shed light on hidden elements of Dubai

On the very first episode of Art with Bazaar, Editor Ayesha S. Shehmir sits down with Emirati visual artist Hind Mezaina to discuss her very first solo exhibition called Wonder Land at Tashkeel. Presented through analogue photography and film, the exhibition highlights the nuances and unnoticed elements of Dubai, exploring the impact of the pandemic on the city.

The show is the outcome of the artist’s year-long research and work as part of Tashkeel’s 2020 Critical Practice Programme.

Launched in 2021, Art with Bazaar is an episodic video series which features visits to leading galleries, museums and art foundations in the region that are shaping the art scene in the Middle East and beyond. Each episode sees an interview with a key figure of an art space including artists, gallery directors and curators, providing the most up-to-date news on exhibitions and other art-related events in the region.
