Downtown Design Introduces A Hybrid Format In 2020
The reimagined design fair will be presented across digital and physical platforms
Bearing in mind the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Downtown Design’s new take on the programme this year is set to bring the industry together across digital and physical platforms, allowing both the architecture and interior design community to have inspiration and insight, connect and navigate the new design landscape.
The hybrid format will be presented within the Design Quarter at Dubai Design District (d3) across all six days of Dubai Design Week.

Conceptual exhibition, ‘The Shape of Things to Come’ is set to invite the region’s architects and interior designers to discuss how to thrive in a post-pandemic world. Through an open call, the selected concepts will be presented as a multimedia exhibition, that will shed light on progressive design in the Middle East.
In support of the objectives of brands and buyers during these unprecedented times, Downtown Design will be presenting a digital exposition, enabling design professionals and enthusiasts to discover the latest collections and trends virtually.
Reinforced by an augmented digital strategy, the virtual show will offer participating brands, country pavilions and designers a wide range of opportunities to help them raise their profile in the Middle East and beyond.

“The recent global events have impacted us all and design fairs are no exception,” says the director of Architecture, SSH, David G. Daniels. “Which is why I am extremely excited for Downtown Design’s innovative response. With this new format, the event leverages its platform to explore positive solutions which I hope will help to resolve the numerous scenarios that we are all faced with.”
Downtown Design will also be curating opportunities for brands looking to reconnect on the ground. Ranging from pop-up installations and capsule showcases to creative collaborations, the brands will have access to both key trade and consumer audience.

“Staying connected is fundamental to our industry, at a time when design fairs the world over have pushed back to 2021, Downtown Design is taking a bold step forward by proposing a creative mix of digital and physical programming in a safe, inspiring environment for brands and designers to reconnect,” says Miriam Llano, Middle East Marketing Manager, Cosentino. “We are very proud to support this year’s programme and look forward to being part of it.”
