Sweet Moments: The Ugly Duck Unveils Its Newest Collaboration
Beloved lollipops Chupa Chups are immortalised in pieces of collectible art by the Dubai-based company
For some, art is a serious business, confined to centuries-old oil paintings hanging in stuffy art galleries. But for others, the purpose of art is to spark joy, wonder, and childlike curiosity.
Disruptive Dubai-based design company The Ugly Duck (TUD) falls into the latter category and has released two new pieces of art that are designed to reignite the spirit of playfulness in adults.
Unveiled alongside the motto ‘Unpack your childlike spirit,’ TUD has collaborated with the beloved lollipop brand Chupa Chups in the creation of contemporary artworks that invite adults to embrace their inner child and revel in sweet nostalgia.
The innovative design team at TUD has crafted two collectible, limited edition ducks as part of its bold new Chupa Chups collaboration. The eye-catching figures feature two flavours: the orange hued Eggstraw (strawberry) and Duckberry (blueberry, grape, and bilberry) that comes in a purple shade. Each piece is enveloped in a candy-like caramel wrapping reminiscent of the iconic lollipop. As well as the renowned Chupa Chups logo, the duck figures also carry Salvador Dali’s recognisable flower motif. The prints on each delightful duck can be customised to result in a unique piece of art that will raise a smile with anyone who views it.
TUD has previously collaborated with iconic artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, LA artist PunkMeTender and the respected Pantone Color Institute on a series of art toys. Having recently participated in Milan Design Week 2024, TUD now partners with Chupa Chups, a hugely successful confectionary brand that was established in Spain in 1958.
