Angelina Jolie Sparks Controversy by Making New Comments Regarding Split With Brad Pitt

From her ex-husband to Harvey Weinstein, Jolie’s experience with toxic and predatory masculinity has led the actor to open up about some deep scars that have cut through her decade-long career and family life

In a new interview given to the English newspaper The Guardian, American actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie has just revealed more sorrowing details to her not so recent break-up with Hollywood super-star, Brad Pitt in 2016.

The duo that found love on the cast of Mr. & Mrs. Smith had reportedly parted ways after Jolie filed for divorce following alleged irreconcilable differences both could not find the strength to see through anymore.

However, some more serious comments have surfaced since their very mediatised split. Opening up on assault, trauma, and activism the award-winning actress (who made it clear she can’t divulge too much due to her “legal situation”) alludes that her ex-spouse was potentially abusive throughout their marriage to their six children, which ultimately led her to fear for “the safety of her entire family” throughout her time with Fight Club’s lead-actor.

The allegations did not end there. Jolie also expressed how difficult and “painful” it was seeing her husband openly being associated with Harvey Weinstein, the one who had assaulted her during her youth back in the late nineties. Brad, who was already aware of the film producer’s preying and execrable behaviour through his ex-girlfriend of the time, Gwyneth Paltrow, still went on to work hand in hand with the toxic figure although his now wife was making similar, to not say identical, claims.

“I stayed away and warned people about him. I was asked to do The Aviator, but I said no because he was involved. I never associated or worked with him again. It was hard for me when Brad [Pitt] did.”

The 46-year-old actress claimed that her experience with Brad made her realize the heightened importance of children’s rights and although Jolie could not talk about the situation further due to the ongoing custody case; the saga is one to make sure to keep under the radar with us in the upcoming weeks.
