In the latest episode of the relationships and comedy podcast CHD by Alex Cooper, Cole Sprouse delved into his past with Riverdale co-star Lili Reinhart.
The actors played Jughead Jones and Betty Cooper in CW’s adaptation of Archie Comics where their characters were together on screen, parallel to real life.
Since their first public appearance at the Met Gala in 2018, Cole and Lili filmed two more seasons of the supernatural drama series and dealt with widespread public speculation on their very private relationship including rumours of Cole’s infidelity which might have been the final nail in the coffin.
Talking candidly on the CHD podcast that has platformed a range of hot-topic celebrities in the past including Hailey Bieber, Anna Delvey, Julia Fox, and more, Cole opened up about how he navigated the break-up with his Riverdale co-star, who he is currently filming the series’ final season with.

“It was really hard for both of us,” said the former Disney Channel star. “The work thing got difficult because it didn’t afford us the luxury of distance to really overcome that”, he continued.
When asked why the couple split in 2020, Cole chose not to comment but said that it was mutual.
“I know we both did quite a bit of damage to each other,” he claimed, alluding to his former girlfriend Lili, who has reportedly been dating actor Spencer Neville since 2022. “All the clichés about dating someone you work with are very true,” said Cole.
The Five Feet Apart actor then seemed to have a change of heart as he concluded the interview by talking about how he’s good friends with Lili and they work “really well” together.
