At first, it was reported that they were “getting to know each other.” Just friends. Now, weeks later, a very different narrative has emerged – one where it seems Leonardo DiCaprio and Gigi Hadid (LeGi? LeoGi? GiDi? The list of would-be nicknames goes on…) would never become an official item.

The world had waited on bated breath for what would have been the celebrity couple of the year and, it seems, the stars didn’t deliver.

Yesterday Page Six reported the award-winning actor and supermodel nearly had a “run in” at a New York Fashion Week Party.

And while it isn’t entirely clear as ti who was avoiding who (or if there’s any avoidance at all, on anyone’s end), there certainly isn’t anything worse than running into someone who may have, at some point, been harboring feelings for you. It certainly is a tricky situation to navigate. But Leo and Gigi were never an item… or were they?

We may never know the answer. The tight-lipped pair never publicly commented on whether or not their “relationship” was anything more than platonic, although sources close to them did stress they were just friends. 

Regardless, if there was indeed something going on between the two of them… we may never know the truth. 

Last week 19-year-old Israeli model Eden Polani sat next to the Titanic star, an act which sparked rumours that she was Leo’s newest sweetheart. Sources close to the actor were quick to confirm he was not in a new relationship with a teenage model.
