Nadine Labaki Stuns In Lebanese Designer Wear At The Toronto International Film Festival

The director wore a dress by Jad Soda and paired her look with a clutch from Sarah’s Bag

Lebanese actor and director Nadine Labaki took center stage at the Toronto International Film Festival this year after she was chosen as a jury member to select the recipient for the $14900 TIFF Platform Prize.

Nadine is celebrated for her groundbreaking approach to filmmaking, which addresses societal concerns and draws inspiration from her upbringing in Lebanon. Her films Caramel, Where Do We Go Now? and Capernaum have received several awards, with Capernaum winning the Jury Award at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.

Nadine stunned in a beautiful strapless black dress with cutout details on the torso by Lebanese designer Jad Soda, known for his craftsmanship in creating high fashion elegant evening wear. Nadine accessorized this look with exquisite silver jewellery by Cartier and a golden clutch with an artistic motif from Lebanese fashion brand Sarah’s Bag.

Nadine was seen with fellow filmmakers in the jury, Oscar-winning director Barry Jenkins, and Anthony Shim who has won several awards for his infamous movie Riceboy Sleeps.

The director also spoke at the TIFF Industry Conference Visionaries, an intimate discussion with industry leaders. “I’ve learned to say what I want and really say it in my own way.” Nadine said when discussing the challenges she had faced due to the socio-political climate.

This year’s Toronto Film Festival saw many nominations from the Middle East, including OSN’s first original movie in the MENA region, Yellow Bus.
