Puppy Kisses, Pilates and Home Cooked Meals: 24 Hours with Olivia Culpo

Bazaar takes a peek inside the day-to-day of the American actress, model and entrepreneur…

8:00AM I’m definitely a morning person and I like to wake up and get the day started. I try to get 8 to 10 hours of sleep – wearing my Slip silk eye mask helps. I’m obsessed with my coffee machine and as soon as I get out of bed, I’ll firstly say hello to Oliver Sprinkles, my Toy Goldendoodle, and then make myself an iced latte.

Around 8:30AM I’ll check texts and emails. I usually get around 50 to 100 emails per day, and then I’ll journal and write a to-do list – it keeps me organised, grounded, and prepared for the day ahead. Life can get overwhelming at times but I can handle it better if I set myself up to be calm and focused in the morning.

I love working out in the morning and my 9:00AM Pilates class is my thing right now. There was a period of time in the winter where I would run outside and jump in my freezing pool as a wake-up call – it sounds nuts but it gets the circulation going.

After the class at 10:00AM I’ll buy a smoothie from Kreation and head home to get showered and ready. It might take 20 minutes or I might take more time depending on my schedule. Honestly my personal style has changed so much this last year because there was nowhere to go – 50 percent of the time I wear athleisure. I really can’t wait to dress up more! I love to mix high-end with accessible fashion. I tend to gravitate towards Italian designers like Valentino, Bottega Veneta and Fendi but I also love Dior, Jacquemus and there is nothing more classic than a Chanel bag. I find that I like to go high-end with bags and shoes but then I can find cool apparel pieces from Zara, H&M and Gap.

By 11:00AM I’ll have calls, meetings or fittings. Luckily my office is at my house, but most of the time I’m on-the-go for shoots, appointments, meetings and events all over the country and the world. I usually drive places but sometimes I have to fly for work. I have a team of two who work for me and I try to make it fun because we work long hours. I love the idea of being a team player and I always really strive for that. I want my employees to understand and feel appreciated in their strengths so they will build confidence to be able to execute things themselves. That’s always the goal for me – their help is a such a huge asset to my career.

At 2:00PM me and my team will order a Chinese chicken salad or sandwich through Postmates delivery service. I tend to stick to the 80/20 rule: 80 percent of the things I eat are healthy, organic and locally sourced and 20 percent of what I eat I consider a cheat meal. I love carbs, candy, dessert, but I try my best to be healthy and balanced. For snacks I love granola, peanut M&M’s, trail mix, SmartSweets, fruit and Kind bars. Chocolate can change my energy if I’m tired. It’s a good cure if I start to get tired on a long press day! I’m always “on the clock” because I own multiple businesses so I’m always making sure those run smoothly too.

Around 8:00PM I might go out for a nice intimate dinner with my co-workers or family. But I also love to watch thrillers with my friends and my dog. My sisters and I love cooking and laughing together while sharing a meal – it’s so special. I grew up helping my mum in the kitchen so it’s one of my favourite places to be. It’s so nice to be with people who know you so well and you can just be yourself.

I try to be in bed before 11:00PM, so I will wind down with a mint, chamomile or ginger tea and cuddle up in bed with my dog and a book. I’m currently reading Burnout: The Secret To Unlocking The Stress Cycle in cosy Eberjey pyjamas. Getting enough sleep is really important to me so I take magnesium when I get into bed and I think that makes a difference, I feel like it relaxes me as soon as I take it. I try not to scroll on my phone before closing my eyes so usually the last thing I do is cuddle my dog and blow out my Le Labo Santal 26 candle on my bedside table. If I’m super tired I’ll fall asleep right away. But sometimes if I can’t sleep, I manifest my dreams and think of my to-do list for the next day.
