Following the drama-filled break up with former football Gerard Piqué, the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer has packed her bags and boarded a plane with her children, according to a recent Instagram post she shared on Sunday.
“I settled in Barcelona to give my children stability, the same we are now looking for in another corner of the world next to family, friends, and the sea,” she wrote in the caption. “Today we start a new chapter in the pursuit of their happiness. Thank you to everyone who surfed alongside my many waves there in Barcelona, the city where I learned that friendship is certainly longer than love.”
“Thank you to everyone who has been there to cheer me up, dried my tears, inspired me, and made me grow. Thank you to my Spanish audience who have always wrapped me in their love and loyalty,” she wrote.
A video of the singer arriving at the Barcelona airport with her two children has been circulating on social media. Shakira, who was wearing a pair of rose-tinted glasses and a jean jacket, smiles and blows a kiss to the paparazzi filming her, as she walks into the airport holding her sons’ hands.

While the star hasn’t publicly disclosed where she will be living in Miami, multiple news outlets reported that she has settled on the seaside city – which is significantly closer to her home country than Barcelona.
Despite the fact that the couple wasn’t married, Shakira and Gerard had been together for twelve years and share two children: Milan, 9 and Sasha, 7.
Back in January Shakira released her latest song with the Argentine DJ and record producer Bizarrap, entitled Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol 53. In the track, Shakira addresses all her recent controversies such as her tax evasion battle with the Spanish government to living next to her in-laws, in addition to the break up. Although the star never addressed the circulating rumours that Gerard had cheated o n her with 23-year-old PR student Clara Chia Marti, she certainly alluded to the pair within her music.
