5 Things You Didn’t Know About Taylor Swift’s Rumoured Fiancé, Joe Alwyn
He’s co-written many of her songs — and is always the first to hear her new music
It’s a love story! Taylor Swift and her British beau, actor Joe Alwyn, are reportedly engaged. Life and Style were first to break the big news, referencing that numerous sources have confirmed the engagement that reportedly happened during the couple’s romantic getaway to Cornwall this January.
The “All Too Well” singer-songwriter and British actor are rumoured to be dating since at least 2016, and have long kept their relationship out of the spotlight. Swift reportedly even went on dates with Alwyn while wearing a wig to protect their privacy. Neither Joe nor Taylor have yet to officially confirm the engagement themselves, but if it’s true, 2022 couldn’t be off to a better start for Swift fans. Here are five things you didn’t know about Taylor’s (potential) husband-to-be…
Who is Taylor Swift’s Rumoured Fiancé, Joe Alwyn?
Joe is the first person to hear Taylor’s new songs.
Taylor gave her British beau a loving shoutout at the 2021 Grammy Awards, where her quarantine album ‘Folklore’ won Album of the Year. In her speech, Taylor gushed: “Joe, who is the first person that I sing every single song that I write,” and that she had “so much fun writing songs in quarantine” with Joe.
He’s an experienced fashion model – and has even posed alongside Gigi Hadid.
Alwyn has modelled for Prada and was the face of the brand’s “Ascension” collection in spring 2018.
He’s co-written numerous Swift tracks on several albums, including evermore and folklore.
While it’s looking like Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn are not only engaged to be married, but have also become quite the productive songwriting duo. Alwyn was credited under his confirmed songwriting pseudonym: William Bowery on evermore tracks “champagne problems” and “coney island”, and folklore hit songs “betty” and “exile”.
Swift confirmed that Alwin was in fact William Bowery on her Disney+ film “Folklore: The Long Pond Sessions.” In the film, Taylor says: “Joe plays piano beautifully and he’s always just playing and making things up and kinda just creating things.”
Numerous Songs Are Most Definitely About Joe.
All true Swifties know that Taylor’s not shy to express her feelings through her music. Although they’ve kept their relationship private to the public, the queen of breakup ballads and love songs opens up about her feelings for Alwyn in several tracks, most notably in ‘London Boy’. The lyrics clearly reference the longtime couple’s time spent together in Camden, Soho and Shoreditch.
You know I love a London boy
I enjoy nights in Brixton, Shoreditch in the afternoon
He likes my American smile
Like a child when our eyes meet, darling, I fancy you
Took me back to Highgate, met all of his best mates
So I guess all the rumours are true
You know I love a London boy Boy, I fancy you
Other Swift hits, such as Lover, Gorgeous and King of My Heart, include references to Alwyn and Swift’s romance.
He’s an experienced actor.
Alwyn made his acting debut in a 2016 war drama, titled, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk. He’s also seen in The Favourite and Mary Queen of Scots, and Taylor’s documentary Miss Americana. Joe is also set to star as Nick in the upcoming TV adaptation of Sally Rooney’s popular novel Conversations with Friends.
