Serena Williams stole the show at the 2023 Met Gala not only with her stunning Gucci dress but also with a major announcement – she’s pregnant with baby number two!
The tennis star took to Instagram to share the news with her fans before hitting the red carpet with her husband, Alexis Ohanian. Serena flaunted her baby bump in an elegant black and white dress that was embellished with pink-toned crystals and featured sheer, billowing long sleeves, a white chiffon skirt, and a long train. To complete the look, Williams accessorised with layers of pearl necklaces, a pearl headband, and diamond stud earrings from Tiffany & Co.
This exciting news comes after Serena announced last year that she would be retiring from playing professional tennis to focus on growing her family.
In an emotional essay, Serena expressed her desire to evolve away from tennis and towards other things that are important to her, including her family and her venture capital firm, Serena Ventures.
“Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala,” the tennis star wrote in the caption of the Instagram post, where she announced she’s expecting.
When is Serena Williams Due?
The tennis star hasn’t publicly disclosed her exact due date; however, most women don’t announce their pregnancy until after the first trimester. Therefore, if Serena is at least three months pregnant, fans can expect to see the arrival of the little one to occur between August-October 2023.
However, without Serena’s (or her doctor’s) confirmation, the exact due date is anyone’s guess.
Williams and Ohanian welcomed their first child, daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., in 2017. Now, the couple is overjoyed to be expanding their family once again.
