The twenty-year-old American actress shot to fame with the release of the supernatural comedy-horror, Wednesday, for which she received a Golden Globe Nomination. Although, this isn’t the first time Jenna has been in the spotlight, having begun her acting career at a young age starring in movies and series such as Stuck in the Middle, Fallout, and most notably — Scream.

She started out young
The actress was born into a family of seven children in Coachella Valley and discovered her love for acting at a very early age. Her breakthrough came with the Disney channel series — Stuck in the Middle (2016-2018) in which she portrayed the main character, Harley Diaz.

Jenna Ortega has been in a vast amount of Netflix series and films such as the thriller series, You (2019) in which she played Ellie Alves during the second season in addition to the movie Yes Day (2021) which truly put the actress on the radars of Netflix producers.

Most notably, Jenna plays the iconic, Wednesday Addams, in the coming-of-age horror-comedy series which has been directed by none other than Tim Burton. The TV series revolves around Wednesday and her transfer to Nevermore Academy, during the eight episodes we get to see Wednesdsau attempt to co-exist with her fellow peers whilst solving a murder mystery.
She is setting new records with the Netflix show, Wednesday
According to a tweet made by Netflix, the eight-episode-long series has broken records becoming the most viewed English-language series raking up over 340 million hours watched.
Wednesday now holds the record for most hours viewed in a week for an English-language series on Netflix, with 341.2 MILLION HOURS!

She learnt a variety of new skills for her role in Wednesday
Despite not being a professional dancer, Jenna Ortega choreographed the famous dance scene in the fourth episode of Wednesday. The actress mentions she was inspired by goths in the club scene during the 80s, the dance would later become viral on TikTok and is now being reinterpreted by millions around the globe.

According to the New York Times, the actress also learnt a variety of skills such as fencing, archery, canoeing and even learning how to play the cello in-order to fully immerse herself into the role of Wednesday Addams. It’s no wonder the childhood actress has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
