Fans (including us!) have been waiting in anticipation to know the name of their favourite Bollywood couple’s daughter since the news of her birth broke out. And last evening, Alia Bhatt took to Instagram to announce the name of her daughter- Raha.
In the picture the actress posted, the couple is seen holding their baby while in the background, a framed jersey of the football club FC Barcelona with the name of the baby printed on it is seen. It is no new fact that Raha’s father, Ranbir Kapoor, is an ardent fan of FC Barcelona.

According to the caption of her post, the name was chosen by the baby’s Dadi (paternal grandmother), Neetu Kapoor. “The name Raha (chosen by her wise and wonderful Dadi) has so many beautiful meanings…”
The actress explained the several meanings of her daughter’s beautiful name. “Raha, in its purest form means divine path, in Swahili she is Joy, In Sanskrit, Raha is a clan, In Bangla – rest, comfort, relief, in Arabic peace, it also means happiness, freedom & bliss. And true to her name, from the first moment we held her – we felt it ALL! ❤️”
Alia also shared a little heartwarming note for the couple’s newest addition to their family. “Thank you Raha, for bringing our family to life, it feels as though our lives have only just begun. ☀️☀️☀️”
Bollywood A-listers including the baby’s aunt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, commented on the post, sending love and blessings to the newest addition to the B-Town family.
“Raha Kapoor can I hold you ❤️can’t wait ❤️” wrote Kareena.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas commented “God bless Raha ?.”
