Why Is Barbie Ferreira Leaving Euphoria?
The star took to her Instagram story to reveal that she is saying “a very teary goodbye” to the show
All the Kat Hernandez fans out there; we deeply sympathise.
Barbie Ferreira will not be returning for the third season of Euphoria, she announced on her Instagram this morning. The 25-year-old model and actress is ending her four-year stint on the iconic HBO series and is bidding farewell to her role as body-positivity queen Kat Hernandez when it returns to our screens.

“After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary eyed goodbye. I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today. I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you Katherine Hernandez,” Barbie wrote in a heartfelt caption, along with a photo of some Kat fan-art done by fellow Euphoria star Hunter Schafer, who plays Jules Vaughn on the show.
Kat’s character has been a favourite in the Euphoria fandom (we can’t forget all those glamorous eye-makeup looks and edgy outfits) and has been with the show since the first season premiered in 2019.
She was hailed for her honest and raw portrayal of a teenager coming of age and going through a journey of self-love and acceptance. Barbie’s casting on the show was also applauded for giving the spotlight to plus-size actresses and adding complexity to their characters.

Barbie is yet to reveal the reasons behind her exit and nothing has been confirmed by HBO as of now.
