Hailed by 60 Minutes as “The Most Beautiful Woman In The World”, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has become a veritable global icon since being crowned Miss World in 1994 and having a longstanding successful career in Bollywood.
For the past 20 years, the award-winning actor has been a red carpet fixture at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in France. She first made an appearance in 2002 for the premiere of her film Devdas, and later went on to become the first Indian female actor to be a jury member the following year. Since then, the starlet became a global brand ambassador for L’Oreal, often attending Cannes events to represent the brand.
As one of the few Indian icons at Cannes, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s red carpet style often makes for unforgettable moments. Her stylist, Aastha Sharma for her 20th anniversary look last year styled Aishwarya in “The Venus” by Indian designer Gaurav Gupta, a look inspired by the goddess of love and beauty. Her team wanted to create “a surreal moment that lives beyond time”.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s look for her 20th year at the Cannes Film Festival was a complete head-turning event, with many wondering if the actress will continue to attend the festival after completing a strong 20 year history.
Will Aishwarya Rai Be Attending The Cannes Film Festival This Year?
With the 76th edition of the film festival soon approaching this May, many are wondering if Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will return for another show stopping red carpet moment. While the actor herself nor her team have confirmed, L’Oreal continues to be the festival’s premier sponsor, meaning that the brand’s top ambassadors are sure to be considered.
It is important to note however, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was not present at L’Oreal’s Walk Your Worth fashion show in Paris during fashion week in October 2022, but did walk the runway the previous year. Could it mean that Aishwarya’s relationship with the brand has changed, or will she continue to represent the world’s largest beauty brand at Cannes?
