Why Did Yasmin Abdelaziz And Ahmed Elawady Get Divorced?
The prominent Egyptian actors have officially separated
On January 16, 2024, renowned Egyptian actor Yasmin Abdelaziz announced that she and her second husband of three years, Ahmed Elawady, have officially divorced.
“Ahmed and I have officially gotten a divorce,” writes Yasmin in the Instagram post. “We have all the respect and appreciation for one another.”

Neither Yasmin nor Ahmed has commented on the reasons for their divorce.
Ahmed Elawady confirmed the news of their official divorce by simultaneously sharing the same announcement via Facebook. “Yasmin and I have officially gotten a divorce, and we will continue to have all the respect and appreciation for one another,” writes the actor.
Just one day before the announcement, Ahmed publicly celebrated Yasmin’s birthday by posting an Instagram photo. “Happy birthday, my love. May you be happy, healthy, and successful for many years to come,” reads the caption.
Similarly, just a few days before their divorce, Yasmin also celebrated Ahmed’s birthday by posting an Instagram photo whose caption reads, “Happy birthday my love – to 100 more years of happiness and health, my Awadiko.”
Rumours of the couple’s divorce had previously circulated back in 2020 and 2022, but both Yasmin and Ahmed denied all such allegations.
Yasmin Abdelaziz has been married twice: She wed successful Egyptian businessman Mohamed Nabil Halawa, with whom she shares two children, back in 2001. The couple unfortunately separated in 2018, but maintained that they had nothing but respect for one another.
Yasmin and Ahmed tied the knot in May, 2020 – announcing and celebrating their union on the famous Mona Elshazly talk show.
