Adele Files For Divorce From Husband Simon Konecki
The couple announced their separation in April
Adele has filed for divorce from husband Simon Konecki, five after months after the couple announced their separation, according to legal documents filed in the US.
A spokesperson for the pair said they remain “committed to raising their son together lovingly”.
The singer and Konecki, an investment banker turned charity boss, welcomed their son Angelo in 2012. It’s believed they married in 2016 or early 2017, after five years of dating.
The divorce papers were reportedly lodged at a court in Los Angeles, according to BBC News.
Adele has always protected her personal life from the public domain, but went on to confirm her wedding when she won album of the year at the 2017 Grammys.
In her acceptance speech, she said: “Grammys, I appreciate it. The Academy, I love you. My manager, my husband and my son you’re the only reason I do it.”
Konecki is the co-founder of Life Water, an eco-friendly brand of bottled water in the UK. Funds from the company assists the charity that Konecki runs, Drop4Drop, which provides clean water to countries in need.
After turning 31 earlier this year, Adele referenced her tough year and how she’s “drastically changed” in a heartfelt post on Instagram.
“30 tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean in to it all. No matter how long we’re here for life is constant and complicated at times,” the star wrote. “I’ve changed drastically in the last couple years and I’m still changing and that’s okay.”
But she assured fans she was looking ahead and learning to love herself in the process, adding: “31 is going to be a big ol’ year and I’m going to spend it all on myself. For the first time in a decade I’m ready to feel the world around me and look up for once. Learning to REALLY truly love yourself is it, and I’ve only just realised that that is more than enough.”
