Angelina Opens Up About How Her Children Helped Her Get Through Her Divorce
“My strength is from my children”
Angelina Jolie has revealed how her children helped her get through a “difficult” few years following her split from now ex-husband, Brad Pitt, in 2016. In a recent interview with The Sun, the actress explained that it took her a while to get back into work because she felt that she needed to be at home with her six children during the difficult period.Â
“The last few years have not been the easiest. I have had my ups and downs, I haven’t felt very strong so, there’s something when you are not feeling very strong where you push yourself,” she revealed. “We all have our difficult times, it’s very Âsimilar to my character [in Maleficent], my strength is from my children, I didn’t work, the kids needed me at home.”

Jolie then went on to describe how it was her kids that managed to help her through the toughest parts of her divorce.Â
“Anyone who is a parent knows there is a strength within you that grows when you just have to survive anything to be strong enough for them, and you have to pull them through anything.”
After being together for over a decade and married for just two years, Jolie and Pitt first announced their split back in 2016. The couple have six children together: Knox, Vivienne, Pax, Shiloh, Zahara and Maddox.
