Balqees Fathi Unveils Her Very Own Madame Tussauds Wax Figure in Dubai
So lifelike, you can barely tell the difference between the half-Emirati singer and her “twin”…
Balqees Fathi has joined the likes of Kylie Jenner, Jason Derulo and just about every other iconic celebrity in modern times, as her Madame Tussauds Dubai wax figure was revealed yesterday afternoon at Caesars Palace on Bluewaters Island.
Becoming the first Middle Eastern superstar to have her statue revealed, the half-Emirati singer was clearly in awe and all smiles as she inspected the lifelike figure herself.
She wore a black Taller Marmo Piccolo Ubud one-shoulder dress to the event and paired it with diamond earrings which looked absolutely stunning during the reveal.
“Since I was a child, I was regular visitor to Madame Tussauds London and I used to take photos with my idols, and kept looking at every single detail of their wax figures and today I have my own, in Dubai,” Balqees says, expressing excitement that her fans will now be able to pose and take pictures with her own figure, examining all the details just like she did when she was young.
“The hair and make-up pretty much matches my own style; this is the classic Balqees style, with the lashes and nude and pink colours of make-up, along with the half up-do. Everything all together is absolutely impressive,” notes the singer, referring to the elaborate hairstyle that Madame Tussauds’ experts created, by individually adding each strand to the figure’s head before it was styled into the half up-do.
After a year of lockdowns in 2020, Balqees is certainly making up for lost time with her latest song “Entaha,” which has been taking the charts by storm within the region – and, of course, the singer-songwriter has quite a lot in the pipeline.
“The upcoming period I’m actually gearing up to release my new music video for the month of August. I’m very excited for that, because this is the first time I’m singing in the Egyptian dialect or accent – and this is my gift to the Egyptians who have been asking for this for a long time,” Balqees says. “I also have a collaboration coming up with superstar Tamer Hosny in Egypt. I probably might do something with my father, I’m still waiting for that… that song with dad. He’s actually cooking something new for me.”
While the atmosphere was upbeat yesterday at the unveiling, the wax figure clearly represents so much more then simply being an another attraction for fans to visit in Dubai.
“This is kind of getting me emotion here, because even for the upcoming generations who probably don’t know who Balqees Fathi is at the moment… me being presented at Madama Tussards Dubai will always give [them] an idea… of the pop star who emerged, who started in 2010 and, probably, played… [some role when it comes to changing] the game of the music industry in the Arab world,” she says.
Madame Tussauds Dubai is location at Bluewaters Island and features 60 wax figures, including 16 notable celebrities from the region.
Creating these lifelike wax figures is certainly no easy feat. According to the attraction, Balqees’ own figure took three months to craft, with a team of experts traveling to Dubai to document 500 of her precise measurements.
