From an exhibition at the Women’s Pavilion to a candle making workshop at James Café, Bazaar shares five ways to celebrate Emirati Women’s Day this year

On August 28, the UAE will celebrate its annual Emirati Women’s Day, a special occasion that honours Emirati women, and brings attention to their incredible contributions and their valuable role in the UAE’s society. Established in 2015, the date was selected by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak to mark the anniversary of the formation of the UAE’s general women’s union.

Early this year, Her Highness announced that the theme for Emirati Women’s Day 2025 will be “Hand in Hand, We Celebrate 50 Years,” which commemorates the 50th anniversary of the General Women’s Union, which was established on August 28, 1975.

Here Bazaar shares some of the special events and activities that are happening in the UAE to celebrate Emirati Women’s Day this year…

Women’s Pavillion at Expo City:

The Women’s Pavilion in the Sustainability District of Expo City Dubai will host a captivating fortnight-long exhibition, beginning on August 28. This artistic showcase brings together the finest works from leading Emirati women artists, featuring photography, mixed-media installations and immersive experiences that explore themes of leadership, heritage and creative innovation.
