How To Watch The Closing Ceremony of The Tokyo 2020 Olympics
After nearly two and a half weeks, the games have come to an end. Bazaar shares how to watch all the highlights from the final evening of festivities here…
The Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games officially ended August 8, 2021 with a two and a half hour closing ceremony — a true spectacle after the past 17 days of competitions, matches and outstanding performances by athletes from all over the world.
This year’s closing ceremony welcomed the flag bearers of each country to the stadium rather than entire teams, most likely due to social distancing protocol. The night was filled with performances by local artists and dancers, with a special guests Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra making an appearance.
After celebrating the marathon winners and handing out a final round of medals, the night concluded with an eruption of colourful fireworks that lit up the night sky. Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo received the Olympic flag symbolising the end of The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and the start of The Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Didn’t get the chance to watch the closing ceremony live? Here, Bazaar shares a few of the higlights from the special evening.
