
Lest We Forget: How Creatives From The Region Stood in Solidarity With Those Affect By The Beirut Blast
From fashion designers to content creators, none could forget the tragic explosion which occurred one year ago today
One year after the August 4, 2020 Beirut bombing, the Arab creative community is coming together to grieve and heal. The explosion lasted only a few seconds, yet it caused years of damage to the city. Almost 200 individuals were killed, and 300,000 more were left homeless, unemployed, or injured.
Instagram is flooded with powerful photos commemorating the explosion. Celebrities are uploading blank screens labeled “Lebanon” in Arabic or posting images of destroyed homes and wreckage in Beirut. From famous singer Nancy Ajram to fashion bloggers Karen Wazen and Lana El Sahely, the creative community is speaking out against the explosion.

Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram shared an Instagram video of her singing a heartfelt ballad in tribute to her hometown Beirut using the hashtags #neverforget #wewillreturn in Arabic.

International fashion designer Zuhair Murad showed his support to all of those who lost their homes and loved ones in the blast.
