See The First Photos Of Priyanka Chopra’s Two Wedding Dresses
One of them took 1,826 hours to make?!
After going on what we like to refer to as their Wedding World Tour, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas FINALLY tied the not. After weeks of celebrating, from Amsterdam to Mumbai, People confirmed that the couple got married at their first of two ceremonies on 1 December. The Western ceremony was officiated by Jonas’ father at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India, surrounded by both of their friends and family from all over the globe, including Nick’s brothers Joe, Kevin, and Frankie Jonas, Joe’s fiancé Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner, and Priyanka’s cousin and actress Parineeti Chopra. The Hindu ceremony then went down the following day in the same location.
As you’ve probably guessed, there weren’t one but two dresses, which the couple just posted the first photos of on Instagram (with matching captions saying, “Forever starts now…”). Alongside Jonas and the bridal party, at the Western ceremony Chopra wore Ralph Lauren. People exclusively reported that the striking long-sleeved gown was a “hand-beaded and hand-embroidered dress featuring floral and scroll motifs, lace-effect tulle appliqués, scalloped sleeves and a high-neck collar.” Oh, did we mention it took 1,826 hours to make?!
Her veil was a work of art, spanning almost 23 metres, it had to be tended to by numerous helpers as Priyanka walked down the aisle with her mother, Madhu Chopra. She also wore a custom pair of Jimmy Choo shoes and the couple exchanged rings from Chopard.
For the Hindu ceremony she was dressed in a gorgeous red lehenga from Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherji. “I always knew I wanted a red traditional silhouette for my wedding but Sabya brought in incredible French embroidery to the mix and with incredible jewelry and western inspired veil it was just such an amalgamation of who I am!” Chopra told People.
Both Jonas and Chopra posted about the traditional pre-wedding mehendi ceremony. Jonas captioned the celebratory photos saying: “One of the most special things that our relationship has given us is a merging of families who love and respect each other’s faiths and cultures. And so planning our wedding with an amalgamation of both was so amazing. An important part for the girl in an Indian wedding is the Mehendi. Once again we made it our own and it was an afternoon that kicked off the celebrations in the way we both dreamed.”
Priyanka also shared photos of their sangeet, which is another pre-wedding Hindu tradition full of music and dancing. The families had the ultimate dance-off, each performing their own routines, which ended as Priyanka wrote on Insta, “a huge celebration of love”.
