Stop Everything: Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Just Joined Instagram
And so did Prince William and Kate Middleton
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made it Instagram official after creating a joint account on the image sharing platform yesterday.
As with all royal news, Kensington Palace confirmed the announced by sharing a photo on their own platform, writing “Welcome to Instagram, @SussexRoyal!”
So far, there is only one post on the account: a slideshow of 10 highlights from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s royal work. And even though the account was only made active yesterday, they have already garnered over two million followers.
The couple left a sweet note in the caption: “‘Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal.’- Harry & Meghan”
Back in January of last year, ahead of the royal wedding, Meghan Markle deleted her Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts. Kensington Palace confirmed in a statement that she was “grateful to everyone who has followed her social media accounts over the years” but had closed them “as she has not used these accounts for some time”.
And if you thought just one British royal couple had joined social media then think again. Since yesterday’s news, Kensington Royal’s Instagram bio has now changed to: The official account of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, based at Kensington Palace.
