UAE residents will be enjoying a long weekend of Eid al-Fitr celebrations in the coming days.
According to Esquire ME, the UAE’s Federal Authority for Government Human Resources announced that this year’s Eid al-Fitr will be an extra long weekend for workers.
The news was taken to Twitter where authorities stated Ramadan will last from Ramadan 29th to Shawwal 3rd, in conformity with the Islamic calendar. Eid is expected to fall on Friday May, 22 and the holiday will continue to May 26 or May 27 depending on whether Ramadan continues for 29 or 30 days.
The announcement addresses public sector workers only, however, the UAE private and public holidays are typically consistent with one and other.
