This Emirati Company Has Just Released A New Creative Initiative For Women
The Cultural Office has just launched its Women’s Creative Network…
Founded by Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in 2013, The Cultural Office was built with a purpose to serve as a “leading platform to develop and activate substantial art movements as milestones within the region that will fortify the UAE’s standing as a global hub for culture and creativity.” This company aims to nurture the untouched talent within the region.
Creating projects such as The Sheikha Manal Art Exchange Program or the The Sheikha Manal Young Artist Award allows art lovers throughout the region to participate and cultivate their talents. Prior to their latest initiative, The Cultural Office have focused on programs that were targeted at kids. Their collaboration with Art Dubai to make the ‘Sheikha Manal Little Artists Program’ was an example of this. Art workshops were set up following this older initiative, and included Emirati artists joining in to coach the little ones; one of them being Mahra Al Falahi.
The Cultural Office has even dabbled in the fashion industry throughout this region. A collaboration was born between them and Piaget in 2017, where The Cultural Office established an art initiative for UAE-based participants to submit an art installation that followed Piaget’s collection the ‘Sunny Side of Life’. By launching initiatives and workshops, The Creative Office is allowing the art-scene in Dubai to flourish further. Whether it’s for the younger generation, or the Emirati women who want a creative outlet such as this.
The latest iniative that The Cultural Office has introduced is their ‘Women’s Creative Network’ – as captioned on their post it “is a platform that aims to promote, foster and celebrate female Emirati creatives in various disciplines by offering diverse opportunities and advancing their contribution to the local art and culture scene.” More than 23 Emirati female “creative disciples” have already joined. The beginning of this network sets an important example for the rest of the region and provides more options later on for the younger minds of this country.
