Eid Al Adha is due to commence next week, according to Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court.
Eid Al Adha would commence on Eid Al Adha would be on Friday, July 31, according to Gulf News. The announcement follows a confirmation by the moonsighting committee, formed to determine when the 12th month of the Islamic calendar begins.
According to the newspaper, the court said that July 21 is the 30th of Dhu Al Qaeda, and Wednesday, July 22, will mark the first of Dhu Al Hijja, as the crescent of Dhu Al Hijja will be clearly visible after today’s sunset. Since the first day of Eid Al Adha always falls on the 10th day of Dhu Al Hijja and one day after Arafat Day July 31 will mark the first day of Eid Al Adha.
The Islamic holiday marks the start of this year’s Hajj season, which will be limited to only 10,000 pilgrims from within the Kingdom due to to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The UAE has yet to announce both private and public holiday dates for Eid Al Adha 2020.
