Gault&Millau UAE 2024: Burj Al Arab’s Al Muntaha Wins ‘Restaurant of the Year’ Award

The Dubai-based restaurant has another illustrious accolade under its belt.

One of the most exciting events in the culinary world, Gault&Millau just announced Burj Al Arab’s Al Muntaha as ‘Restaurant of the Year’ in their prestigious annual awards Gala on January 31 in Dubai, attended by 200 of the UAE’s finest chefs, sommeliers, and restaurant teams.

Here’s everything Bazaar Arabia knows about this year’s gala, the shortlists, and the 2024 guide.

Introduced by journalists Henri Gault and Christian Millau, the guide consists of an in-depth ranking of luxurious dining locations on a scale from 1 to 20. Subject to the score, the restaurant can receive between one to five toques.

What is a Gault&Millau toque?

A toque, also known as Chef’s Hat, is a prestigious status and title given to all restaurants with high rankings in the following categories: quality of the food, service, drinks, atmosphere, and the restaurant itself.

Gault&Millau UAE 2024 Gala: New Guide, Winners, and Restaurant Rankings To Be Announced Tomorrow

The third annual edition of the gala will bring together 200 of the country’s best chefs, sommeliers, restaurant managers, and restaurateurs in a night of celebration at the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah.

The awards are regularly split into People and Venue categories and the shortlist includes BOCA, Eugène Eugène, Ossiano, and IKRA Caviar Bar.

This year the gala will also launch a new category: Breakthrough Restaurant of the Year, created to honour establishments that have opened in the past six months and have achieved great success in the UAE’s fine-dining scene.

Throughout the year, invetiagotrs from Gault&Millau UAE have gone undercover rating the country’s resturants from one to 20, and accodingy to their ranking they will be rewarded one or more toques.

The night will end with the announcment of the Resturant of The Year, and guests will leave with the highly anticpated new Gault&Millau UAE Guide.
