Lunch On The Terrace: Roberto’s DIFC Dubai
Bazaar suggests you forgo al-desko until the summer hits
“Give me books, fruit, wine, fine weather and a little music out of doors.” Declared British poet John Keats around two thousand years ago; simply and swiftly romanticising the basic notion of how great it is to eat your food under the open sky on a nice day. So here we are in 2016, and the man still has a point — there really is something luxuriously decadent about dining at a beautiful location al fresco, don’t you think? Not least when you live in a city that spends its summer months ‘in doors’.
When it comes to options in Dubai it’s certainly time to take advantage of the agreeable (presently perfect) weather for a spot of lunch on the outside… But before deciding on places to pin down the perfect view too, may we make a very chic suggestion in Roberto’s, situated in Dubai International Financial Centre between Jumeirah Emirates Towers and the mighty Burj Khalifa.
A homegrown Italian concept that brings a blend of Roman passion for food together with a glamorously urban UAE landscape backdrop, the multiple award-winning restaurant gets the Bazaar nod of approval by boasting something aside from impressive fare; its prime positioning is a real selling point.
Roberto’s signature Pizza Beef Carpaccio
Case in point: Bazaar enjoyed a recent afternoon spent at the venue’s re-opened lounge terrace, ordering the classics. The worth-every-calorie burratta was also worth shouting about, appearing with a warm shell of fresh mozzarella strips, cherry tomatoes and garden basil, plus the signature beef carpaccio served as a lightly satisfying pizza, with rocket, parmesan and black truffle – we have pronounced each as antipasta menu highlights accordingly. From lunch in the open air to a space that also provides an ideal post-work aperitivo, if you’re opting for a later time to dine, it’s a buzzy-yet-relaxed choice for a casual dinner.
Meanwhile, those in the mood for something more formal should sample the outdoor restaurant dining experience held on the adjacent ‘Cortina’ terrace, which offers a more intimate atmosphere for special occasions, and better still? It’s all being joined by a second UAE address later this year, when Roberto’s launches at The Galleria Mall on Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi.
For now though in Dubai you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more delightful time in harmony with iconic views, making it no task to wax lyrical on the matter… Italians just do it better.
