Mondrian Doha Launches a Unique Culinary Experience

Harper’s Bazaar Qatar (HBQ): What can guests expect from this exceptional dining experience?
Mikel Ibrahim (MI): During the four days of the Taste of Mondrian experience, our bespoke dining and nightlife outlets will be treating our guests with special menus and live entertainment performances to celebrate Mondrian’s eclectic lifestyle. We look forward to welcoming our guests to enjoy our chefs’ latest creations and the vibrant nightlife offerings we planned.

Celebrity Chef Masaharu Morimoto, renowned for his unique blend of ancient traditional Japanese cooking styles and Western flavors will be joining us. Guests will have the chance to meet the Chef and enjoy daily demos and special experiences including Sake Splash Ceremony & Bespoke Morimoto Menu, Omakase experience, and Live Tuna Cutting + Omakase Experience.

From SLS Dubai, Chef Sara Aqel, global Executive Chef of Fi’lia will be taking guests on a Mediterranean journey to relish in an exclusive brunch. Fi’lia is the region’s first female led restaurant where the menu is a culinary story through a women’s generational travel from the traditional to the modern take on recipes. Chef Sara will leave guests with mouthwatering tastes such as the Bresaola Burrata Pizza or the 18-hour Veal Ragu. Chef Sara has planned two one-off exclusive menus for Taste of Mondrian; Fi’Lia Take Over Party Brunch, and Dolce Vita Dinner.
Meat lovers are in for a special treat. Chef Luke Omarzu from CUT by Wolfgang Puck has curated a Signature CUT Brunch and a CUT World Tour Dinner, a five-course exquisite menu showcasing signature CUT dishes.
Caviar aficionados are invited to learn the Art of Mixology while savouring the best of 12 Chairs with Chef de Cuisine Marcus Riot.
HBQ: Can you tell us a bit about the musical performances and other events planned during Taste of Mondrian?
MI: Taste of Mondrian is not only about Mondrian Doha’s culinary delights. We prepared a series of exclusive entertainment experiences to fire up our guests’ evenings with special activations such as DIY cocktails at Smoke & Mirrors cigar lounge inviting guests to experience a unique evening of Dominican Republic cigar rolling with live entertainment. To further spice up the weekend and close out this extraordinary Taste of Mondrian showcase, a bold night awaits guests at Black Orchid with DJ Innellea. Hudson Tavern’ guests are in for a night of bespoke cocktails and whimsical beverage experiences at the Bar Take-Over evening by Award-winning Mixologist Ollie Hampton.

On June 2nd, Mondrian Moonstone, the hotel’s super lux ballroom, will light up the evening with an enchanting performance by Guy Manoukian, the Lebanese – Armenian musician, composer and pianist who made a prominent presence internationally; indulging guests in a surreal evening never seen before. The evening will fire up with a performance by George Nehme, a voice that echoed Lebanon’s musical legacy. Tickets for Guy Manoukian and George Nehme’s first joint performance include a 3-course dinner from Mondrian Doha’s haute-cuisine.
HBQ: In what ways does the Mondrian Doha set itself apart when it comes to customer service and experiences?
MI: Mondrian Doha has become an integral part of Qatar’s hospitality landscape, evolving as one of the major and must-visit luxury destinations in the region. Qatar’s community has embraced Mondrian’s eccentric, fashionable and contemporary identity. That was one of our biggest achievements and milestones!

HBQ: What are your personal favourites/a “can’t miss” chef/experience during the weekend?
MI: We encourage our guests to sample the diverse offerings of our international culinary creations curated by visiting chefs such as Celebrity Chef Masaharu Morimoto from New York and Chef Sara Aqel. I’d like to say try them all if you can! I know for sure that I would like to do that.
HBQ: How important is the physical event in times post-Covid and what do you hope this experience will bring to food aficionados?
MI: The pandemic enticed us to adapt and overcome the challenges. Consequently, we launched ‘Taste-to-go’, Mondrian’s signature takeaway and delivery offer which was among the first in the market that allowed the hotel’s F&B outlets to continue operating and offering their menus to taste from the comfort of guests’ homes from the onset of the pandemic. While our guests did not miss on our exceptional culinary offerings, we missed our guest’s presence. With the slow return to normalcy our restaurants and bars are filling up and we are back to seeing the familiar faces we missed. Taste of Mondrian is a perfect opportunity to officially welcome everyone back and celebrate their return with a bang!

Moreover, with the World Cup and the Mondrian Doha fifth anniversary celebrations kicking off this year, we are planning a wide range of exciting activations and are looking forward to welcoming our guests to enjoy the true taste of Mondrian.
