Diwali Fireworks in The UAE: Are They Cancelled This Year?

Every year, the UAE lights up with gatherings, events and fireworks to celebrate the Hindu festival

Known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali is the biggest yearly celebration for Hindus all over India and globally, honouring the triumph of good over evil and welcoming a new year of wealth and prosperity.

Diwali has become a cultural celebration where people of all religions and from different countries are invited to participate.

How is Diwali Celebrated?

Those who celebrate Diwali adorn themselves in ethnic clothing and jewellery, as well as their homes with traditional lamps called diyas and coloured sand art called rangoli. Lights are placed all around interiors as well as on the outside to call in positivity and radiance.

In addition to performing religious ceremonies, families and friends gather to light fireworks, exchange gifts and feast on Indian dishes and sweets.

When is Diwali 2023?

Diwali rituals are performed for 5 days, however the third day of the festival is most popularly celebrated.

Diwali dates change every year but is typically celebrated during the autumn season in October or November, depending on the position of the moon. This year, the third and main day of Diwali will be observed on Sunday, November 12.

Diwali Fireworks in The UAE: Are They Cancelled This Year?

Although every year people gather at several landmarks to celebrate Diwali in the UAE with a lavish display of fireworks, it is still unsure whether this year’s festivities will be called off. There have been no official reports from the government or any authorities yet, and we will have to wait to find out.
