Abu Dhabi Launches A Film Festival Around The Theme Of Tolerance
Tolerance Film Festival is kicking off tomorrow
Hot on the heels of Venice and Toronto, Abu Dhabi is launching their own film festival, which will take place from Thursday, September 12 to Saturday, September 14.
Under the patronage of Minister of Tolerance Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan and in collaboration with the German Embassy, Tolerance Film Festival, as the name suggests, will showcase films that promote peace and tolerance.
The movies will be screened at Manarat Al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi and Cinema Akil in Dubai’s Al Serksal Avenue, and will see several Arab films, including Nadine Labaki’s Where Do We Go Now? A film set in rural Lebanese where the residents, who are a mix of Muslim and Christian, are on the verge of religious war; and The Heart of Jenin, a documentary that follows a refugee camp.
Global classic will also be screened. Moviegoers can expect to watch Robert Mulligan’s 1962 To Kill a Mockingbird, Exit by Karen Winther and Styx by Wolfgang Fischer.
The event will also include a concert by the Emirati Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Riad Kudsi.
