Hollywood mega-producer Ryan Murphy and FX Networks are developing a highly anticipated new show, American Love Story, that will tell the tale of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, one of the most famous couples of the 1990’s.
American Love Story is a new scripted anthology series of “sweeping true love stories that captured the world’s attention,” Deadline reports. The first season will show the courtship and marriage of the young couple, JFK Jr. and Carolyn. While their marriage started out beautifully, their relationship began to face many challenges due to the stress of their careers and the pressures of life under the prying eyes of the tabloid media.
JFK Jr., the son of former American President John F. Kennedy, and Carolyn, a Calvin Klein publicist, married in 1996. The couple quickly garnered the attention of people across the globe until their tragic deaths in 1999 by plane crash.
American Love Story will be a spinoff of the director’s American Story franchise, including the currently active American Horror Story and American Crime Story.
In addition to American Love Story, Ryan will also develop another spinoff show, American Sports Story, a “scripted anthological limited series focusing on a prominent event involving a sports figure and re-examines it through the prism of today’s world, telling that story from multiple perspectives.” FX Networks has announced the news about both shows on its Instagram page.
While there have been no further announcements regarding a premiere date or cast for American Love Story, we will certainly keep you up-to-date on any developments.
