Dina Shihabi Shares A First Look Of Her Upcoming Netflix Series “Painkiller”
The Saudi actor took to her Instagram to share visuals of the highly-anticipated show
A new Netflix series is all set to launch on our screens, and we are thrilled. Painkiller follows the plot of the opioid crisis and includes the story of the actions and man behind Purdue Pharma, which created OxyContin, along with the number of people involved in the beginning stages of the crisis.
Starring Matthew Broderick, Uzo Aduba, Taylor Kitsch, and our Bazaar Saudi cover star Dina Shihabi, the upcoming release has a stellar star cast and is definitely one of the most-anticipated launches on the platform of 2023.
Dina took to her Instagram yesterday to share her first look at the series. In the caption, she mentions, “FINALLY ❤️ ? First look at Painkiller, a limited series inspired by real events about the opioid crisis in America premiering August 10, only on @netflix. One of the best experiences of my life with a group of the most talented people that I will love forever. Can’t wait for you to watch ??.”

The actress is proving that Arab talent can make it on a global scale. She talks to Bazaar about growing up in the Middle East, the importance of representation, and her plans for world domination. She says, “I always was interested in acting in some way, I would spend hours and hours watching TV, whether is was Six Feet Under, The Sopranos or Before Sunrise with Julie Delpy, and I would always do Oscar’s acceptance speeches in my mirror.”

“The first couple of roles involved playing the wife of a terrorist, and I did have some shame around that,” she admits. “Things have changed, but I do think it’s changed by all of us doing so well – there’s a big group of us Arab actors now that are really killing it, and so the industry is seeing us and recognising that we can do anything,” she added.
